Why MSPs move to DokLocker
- It keeps itself up to date. RMM, PSA, Microsoft 365, backup and network integrations fill in devices, users, licenses and backup status every hour, so documentation doesn't go stale.
- Every integration is included. No add-ons to buy to connect the tools you already use.
- Cloud or self-hosted. Run it on our hosted service, or on your own server or NAS with Docker. It's the same product.
- Built for how techs work. Network diagrams that draw themselves, a map of which computers talk to which servers, security coverage per device, checklists, and an AI assistant that answers from your own documentation.
- Passwords done properly. Encrypted at rest, every view logged, per-client access rules, and one-time codes stored with the login.
How switching from IT Glue works
1. Export from IT Glue
- Sign in to IT Glue as an administrator.
- Go to Account › Export data and export everything (include attachments if you have them).
- IT Glue emails you when the .zip is ready. Download it.
2. Upload and preview
- In DokLocker open Admin › Import / Export.
- Under Switch from IT Glue choose the .zip and click Upload and preview.
- The preview lists every organization with what it contains. Active organizations are ticked; inactive ones are not.
- Untick anything you don't want, then click Import selected. Big accounts can take a minute or two.
The uploaded file is deleted as soon as the import finishes, or when you click Cancel and delete the file. The import is recorded once in the audit log.
What goes where
| In IT Glue | In DokLocker |
|---|---|
| Organization | Client (inactive organizations come in as inactive clients) |
| Location | Site, with the address. The primary location is used when nothing else says where something is |
| Contact | Contact on the client. "Important" contacts become the primary contact |
| Configuration | A Server, Workstation, Printer, Network device or Asset record, picked from the configuration type and operating system. Interfaces, serial number, warranty and the assigned contact come along |
| Password | A Password record, encrypted. One-time code (TOTP) secrets are kept. Passwords tied to a configuration are linked to that record |
| Internet / WAN, LAN, Wireless | DokLocker's WAN, LAN and Wi-Fi records. Extra columns are kept as extra fields |
| Other flexible assets (Email, Licensing, Vendors...) | A new record type with the same fields, so nothing is lost. Secret-looking fields (passwords, keys, PINs) are stored encrypted |
| Domain | Domain, with its expiry date |
| SSL certificate | SSL certificate, with its expiry date. Private keys are never imported |
| Document | Note. Text attachments are included in the note and images go to the client's photos |
| Attached files | Photos & files on the matching record |
Archived passwords and items are skipped.
Importing again
If a client with the same name already exists, new sites, records and passwords are added to it. Anything already there with the same name is left alone, so running the same export twice doesn't make duplicates. The summary after the import shows what was added and what was left alone.
Tips
- Run a test import of one organization first and check it looks right.
- Only admins can import, and only users who can view passwords will see the imported passwords.
- Afterwards, check Settings › Record types for the new types made from your flexible assets. You can rename them, change icons or switch them off per site.
Questions
How long does it take to switch from IT Glue?
Most MSPs are moved over in an afternoon. Export everything from IT Glue, upload the .zip to DokLocker, pick the organizations you want, and import. Big accounts take a minute or two to import.
Do my passwords and one-time codes come over?
Yes. Passwords are imported encrypted, one-time code (TOTP) secrets are kept, and passwords tied to a configuration are linked to that record.
What about flexible assets?
Each flexible asset type becomes a DokLocker record type with the same fields, so nothing is lost. Secret-looking fields are stored encrypted.
Can I try it before moving everything?
Yes. Import a few organizations into a free trial first; you can import again later, and anything already there with the same name is left alone, so nothing is duplicated.
